Every success story begins with someone determined to change their future. Through programs offered by Forward Service Corporation, individuals and families facing difficult circumstances can access the support, guidance, and resources needed to rebuild their lives.
For Taya, enrolling in Wisconsin Works (W-2) marked the beginning of a powerful transformation for both herself and her children.
A Determined Mother Seeking a Fresh Start
Taya recently shared a letter with our team describing her journey and the impact the program had on her life. Her words reflect the resilience and determination many parents bring with them as they work toward stability.
My name is Taya, and I am writing to share my experience and growth through the program.
When I entered the program, I was seeking a fresh start for myself and my children. I was a single mother starting over, and at the time, we were between homes. My goals were to get back on track, learn how to manage and pay bills again, find stable employment, and begin saving money so I could create a secure and stable home for my children.
I am proud to say that I have met every goal I set. We entered a shelter and completed the program within six months, staying focused and doing everything possible to improve our situation. I enrolled in various programs, saved my money, and remained fully present for my children throughout the entire process. Today, I have my own home and stable employment. My life has changed for the better because I no longer depend on others for stability. I have become more independent and confident. I connected with supportive professionals who helped me access therapy and begin my healing and personal growth journey. I also received assistance enrolling my children in daycare and school, which brought structure and balance to our lives.
Thank you for the support and opportunity to rebuild my life.
How Wisconsin Works Helps Families Build Stability
Stories like Taya’s highlight how critical supportive services can be during times of hardship. Through Wisconsin Works, participants receive individualized support designed to remove barriers and create pathways toward employment and independence.
Program staff work alongside participants to help them:
- Access job opportunities and employment preparation services
- Connect with housing, healthcare, and community support resources
- Secure child care so parents can attend work or training
- Receive short-term financial assistance that stabilizes families during difficult transitions
By addressing both employment goals and real-life challenges, Wisconsin Works helps parents focus on creating lasting stability for themselves and their children.
Turning Personal Experience Into a Purpose
Today, Taya’s journey is not only about stability: it’s about giving back. Her plans to return to school and pursue a degree in Human Services reflect a deep desire to help others who may be facing the same challenges she once did.
By sharing her story and continuing her education, she hopes to encourage women rebuilding their lives and remind them that change is possible with determination, support, and hope. Her journey shows that even during life’s most difficult moments, a fresh start is possible, and that rebuilding a life can inspire others to do the same.
