Celebrating Volunteer Power: Community Connection Day Brings 500+ Together for Resources, Jobs, and Inspiration

Marinette, WI – The recent Community Connection Day was more than just a local event—it was a vibrant celebration of connection, compassion, and community spirit. With over 500 attendees, a packed vendor space, and volunteers from all walks of life, the day created lasting impact and opened doors to new opportunities for individuals and families across the area.

From the moment people began arriving—some by chance, like a walking club of 15 women drawn in by the buzz—the atmosphere was electric. The event welcomed 517 attendees, including community members, families, local organizations, and job seekers eager to explore the services and resources offered.

A Showcase of Local Collaboration

The event featured a diverse array of local businesses, nonprofits, and service providers, all united by a shared goal: to uplift the community. Booths buzzed with activity as attendees stopped to ask questions, sign up for services, and learn about job opportunities. According to one community member, “I didn’t even have time to visit all the vendors—I spent so long talking to each one and gathering information. It inspired me to rejoin the workforce!”

Volunteers Who Made It Happen

What truly set this day apart was the power of volunteers, including WIOA participants and community members who rolled up their sleeves to help make the event shine. Their contributions created a welcoming space where attendees felt seen, supported, and empowered.

One shining example of community generosity came from a volunteer’s sister-in-law, who donated 20 beautifully curated raffle baskets filled with hygiene products, school supplies, toys, food, and gift cards. With additional support from WIOA’s Brittany Jaworski and Karen Rowe from the Job Center, 10 more baskets were created and distributed. The emotional responses from winners—some moved to tears—highlighted just how meaningful this act of kindness was.

Voices from the Community

The event received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants, vendors, and attendees alike:

“It truly was a joy to be able to participate. Already looking forward to next year.” – Face Painting Crew

“This event brought me mental health resources for myself and my son. I’m so thankful for the help and kindness.” – Community Member

“You did a stellar job organizing this! Thank you for the personal welcome and check-ins.” – Job Corps Representative

“We were able to sign up and volunteer with several nonprofits—we’re excited to get involved again.” – Community Member

Looking Ahead

With such a resounding success, the call for Community Connection Day to become an annual tradition is growing louder. Local partners like the Salvation Army, Catholic Social Services, and the M&M Chamber of Commerce have already expressed interest in future events. As one vendor put it, “Please share the 2026 date as soon as possible—we’re in!”

This event proved that when a community comes together—with volunteers at its heart—incredible things happen. Plans are already in the works for next year, and the excitement is only growing.
