From Setback to Stability: How WETAP Helped Daniel Rebuild His Life with Reliable Transportation

A Second Chance, Remembered at the Right Time

Daniel’s journey with the WETAP program began with a moment he didn’t let slip away.

“I first heard about the program several years ago after seeing it on a flyer at the Forward Service Corporation office,” he recalls. “Things did not work out at that time, but I remembered the opportunity was available and pursued it when the time was right.”

That persistence would define everything that followed.

Rebuilding After Incarceration

When Daniel was released from prison, he faced immediate and overwhelming challenges. He was struggling with housing, transportation, and finding employment at a living wage.

Without reliable transportation, finding stable, well-paying work felt nearly impossible. But even in that difficult moment, he continued searching for solutions, determined to create a better path for himself.

Staying Ready for Opportunity

Daniel’s first attempt to access WETAP funding didn’t go as planned, but he didn’t walk away.

“Funding ran out right at the end of me completing the application process,” he says.

Instead of giving up, he stayed ready. As soon as funding returned, he acted immediately.

“As soon as funding returned, I jumped on the opportunity and was the first person to receive a loan in this period.”

That willingness to keep going—even after setbacks—helped him secure the support he needed.

A Vehicle That Changed Everything

Through WETAP, Daniel gained access to something that would transform his daily life and long-term outlook.

“[WETAP] gave me the opportunity to get a safe and reliable vehicle that I could afford.”

With transportation no longer a barrier, Daniel could finally align his effort with real opportunity. His determination, paired with the right resource, opened doors that had previously been closed.

“I was able to find better employment in my career field of choice as well as my own residence.”

Moving Forward—Faster Than Before

Today, Daniel is not only stable—he’s building momentum.

“I am in a better job, and I plan to continue to earn and save money and build my credit to help achieve the goals I have in life, such as a nicer newer vehicle and purchasing a home and investment properties at some point.”

His journey hasn’t been easy. He openly shares the personal growth behind his progress:

“I have struggled with substance abuse and mental health and I’m proud to say that I am successfully sober for 27 months and in one of the best spots of my life.”

With that foundation, and the support of WETAP, Daniel has been able to accelerate his progress in ways that once felt out of reach.

“With the help of this program, I have been able to achieve things that would have taken me much longer to do on my own without this resource.”
