Rebuilding Stability One Step at a Time
Before connecting with Forward Service Corporation’s programs, Alianna was facing one of the most difficult periods of her life. “I experienced a period of unemployment and homelessness,” she shares, “struggling to survive day to day while working to regain stability.”
Like many people navigating unexpected hardships, Alianna wasn’t lacking determination. She simply needed support, resources, and someone willing to help her move forward. Basic necessities had become major obstacles. She needed help finding employment, obtaining appropriate clothing for interviews, repairing her vehicle, and securing gas vouchers so she could travel to important appointments and job opportunities.
Everything began to change when she learned about the FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET_ program through her Income Maintenance (IM) agency. Through Forward Service Corporation’s FSET services, Alianna found not only practical assistance, but also encouragement and guidance during a time when she needed it most.
Finding Support Through FSC’s FSET Program
Alianna worked closely with Forward Service Corporation staff to begin rebuilding stability in her life. Through FSET, she received support with job search activities, interview preparation, and identifying education and training opportunities that could strengthen her future employability.
The practical assistance made an immediate difference. Reliable transportation support allowed her to attend appointments and pursue work opportunities. Interview clothing helped her feel more confident and prepared. Step by step, barriers that once felt overwhelming became manageable with the right support system behind her.
But for Alianna, the impact of FSC’s services went far beyond employment assistance alone.
What surprised her most was the level of personal encouragement she received while exploring her long-term goals and interests. As staff members learned more about her ambitions, they encouraged her to think beyond immediate survival and begin planning for the future she truly wanted.
That future involved a growing passion for forensic science.
Discovering a Path Toward Forensic Science
Many people know forensic science from television crime dramas, but for Alianna, the field represented something much deeper: purpose, curiosity, and the opportunity to build a meaningful career.
With encouragement from FSC’s FSET and WIOA programs, she began exploring educational pathways that could help turn her interest into a reality. Rather than focusing only on short-term employment, her support team helped her create a plan that balanced immediate stability with long-term career development.
Today, Alianna has successfully obtained part-time employment as a receptionist while continuing to pursue her education goals. Through support from WIOA, she is returning to school and continuing her journey toward a degree in forensic science.
“My dream,” Alianna says, “is to continue working while going to school and completing my degree in Forensic Science.”
Her determination and willingness to keep moving forward have played a major role in her success. Even during periods of uncertainty, Alianna remained focused on improving her future and creating new opportunities for herself.
Building a Future Through FSC Services
Alianna’s story is a powerful reminder that employment programs can do much more than help someone find a job. With the right combination of resources, encouragement, and individualized support, people can begin building entirely new futures for themselves.
Forward Service Corporation’s programs are designed to meet people where they are while helping them move toward greater stability and independence. Whether someone needs support with transportation, interview preparation, education planning, career exploration, or employment services, FSC works alongside individuals to help them achieve their goals.
For Alianna, that support helped transform a period of homelessness and unemployment into a future filled with purpose and possibility.
Today, she is not only working toward financial stability but also pursuing a career field that genuinely inspires her. As Alianna continues working toward her forensic science degree, her story stands as an inspiring example for others who may be facing challenges of their own. With support, perseverance, and opportunity, a difficult chapter does not have to define the future.
