Our success story this week not only has a job she loves, but Rebecca was even featured in last week’s State of the State address in Madison. It began about 7 months ago, she tells us, with an appointment to enroll in FSET (the FoodShare Employment and Training program). She says she was bit unsure about this at first, but quickly threw herself into the workshops and training provided through the program. After completing the 4-week Forward Impact program, Rebecca then went to ADVOCAP to pick out some interview outfits, followed by a haircut. Now, she remembers, the excitement started to build. Little did she know that a mock interview session would lead to a new opportunity. After putting in applications across town, she wasn’t sure that it was going to happen. Then Randi, who had met her at the mock interviewing session, called Rebecca to see if she was still interested in joining their deli team. She jumped at the chance and after some pre-employment screens she was good to go. “FSET has helped me so much,” Rebecca wrote, “I am still working at Walmart, almost 5 months now and I love it.” Not stopping there, she adds, “I really would love to thank each and every one who mad this happen for me. I really didn’t believe it would happen to me. But with Forward Impact, work search, job clubs, and nice people at FSET, it was all made possible.”
Congratulations Rebecca, we are so proud to have you in our ever growing list of success stories.
