Worker Advancement Initiative (WAI)
How it Works
The Worker Advancement Initiative is a grant funded by the Department of Workforce Development that focuses on employment affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It also helps people who did not yet have stable work prior to the pandemic. Funds from this grant are used to support work opportunities for individuals seeking to enter or re-enter the workforce.
If you are currently unemployed, ask about the WAI program to learn how you can receive support while you look for work.
Get the Job You Want
Our WAI services begin with identifying employment goals, then finding a path to achieve them. This is customized to each person, but could include sharpening job skills through training or work experiences, or preparing for employment by creating or improving a resume, job searching, and walking through the interview process.
Additionally, individuals receive supportive services to make this transition easier. They can receive gas or bus vouchers to get to and from interviews and employment-related appointments. Direct connections to employers strengthen a candidate’s chances for getting that desired job.
What To Expect
Taking the first step in your new employment journey is easy. Fill out the interest form and our staff will contact you to understand your needs and connect you with necessary resources.
From there, we will explore your job skills and interests and find a job plan that works for what you want to accomplish.
