Sarah Designs Her Career

We couldn’t be happier to congratulate Sarah, today. This past December, she earned her Associate degree in graphic design, and she just started her new job as an Art Director!

Sarah is the talented artist who wowed us when she created a Dream Board comic book a few years ago in our Office Professionals course. At the time, Sarah was also just beginning her college career.

It just goes to show the touch of fun and creativity that she brings to all her endeavors.

Back to the Drawing Board

Sarah discovered FSC in the middle of the pandemic – it wasn’t an ideal time to re-enter the workforce, but she didn’t have much of a choice. After 18 years of raising three daughters at home, her world was turned upside down by divorce.

A talented artist, Sarah had the passion and drive to get the career in the arts that she wanted. But she needed to practice and earn her credentials to make that happen. Returning to school as an adult was unexpected, but she knew she could do it with some help. She looked us up online, and soon had a whole team of job-searching and academic support through our WIOA, Wisconsin Works, and FSET programs.

“I am so grateful for all the support that has been provided by my case workers throughout the years,” says Sarah. Her team was there for her every step of the way, from their initial exploration of career options, to affording school fees and books, right up to updating her resume. Sarah knew that she had the right people in her corner.

In The Right Frame

Sarah excelled in class and earned a technical certificate in the hot field of web design in addition to her Associate degree in graphic design. After a brief job search, she was recently hired as the Art Director at an advertising and marketing agency. She is overjoyed to earn a living doing something she loves and is eager to practice designing in the field.

We’re so happy for you, Sarah. Congratulations!
