Job Access Loans (JALs) are short-term, no-interest loans up to $1600. They are intended to help you pay for things related to getting or keeping a job. They can be used for things like:
A JAL can help with vehicle repairs, down payments for a car, and driver’s license fees.
You can use a JAL to pay for required work clothing or uniforms.
Under some circumstances, JALs may be used for housing or paying fines. The expense must be approved before you can receive the loan.
Funding for JAL has been expended for the year 2023. Check back in January of 2024 for more information. Your local 211 will have information on additional emergency assistance services.
You can apply for a Job Access Loan online or in person. To apply online, visit our ACCESS page to watch how to get started. Applying online will expedite the application and approval process.
