He was there – trying to find a job and a place to live, but tired of struggling every single day. He joined FoodShare for help with buying groceries. Clifton soon learned that his Quest card also gave him access to job-seeking guidance. He figured since he was feeling lost, why not? Since then, Clifton has finally gotten the direction and fulfillment he was looking for in his career.
Clifton discovered a world of opportunities in what used to look like a tangled mess. He came to our team with a lot of wonderful ideas and goals that he wanted to explore. His case manager Lanna helped Clifton find the common themes behind his dreams and lay a foundation for his future.
Although Clifton was hired part-time almost immediately, he wanted more than a starter job. He wanted a position that would encourage learning and help him move up. Lanna helped him look for that job – that career – that would help him give back and have something to show for it in the end.
That led him to finding a job as a tire technician at Love’s Truck Shop. He loves their on-the-job training and knows he can advance with hard work. Plus, working with his hands gives Clifton the satisfaction of knowing he’s helped someone every day.
“There is always help even when you think you can’t do any more,” he says. Clifton says he feels like a new man. Congratulations, Clifton!
