With a perfect 4.0 GPA for her spring semester, Alison is well on her way to reaching her dream of being a nurse – and WIOA is there for her every step of the way.
Alison is quick to note how important this support has been, saying that it has allowed “me to focus on my education by taking away the financial stress of schooling.” She especially appreciates Bri, her Career Services Specialist, for helping and being a “part of a program that truly cares about the success of the participants.”
As many people know, navigating school can be hard – from choosing classes to paying for it all. Bri helped Alison get enrolled, discuss her career goals, and provide money for tuition, books, fees, and travel. This was especially important as Alison lives pretty far away from the school.
Alison’s bubbly and positive nature have already endeared her to others, and her work ethic has been noticeable from the beginning of our time together. After earning her credential, she started working as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This is providing a world of on-the-job learning experience that she is bringing to her core nursing classes this year.
“I am very proud of Alison and all the hard work she has put in thus far,” Bri says, quickly adding that “I cannot wait to see where her determination brings her.”
We agree! Congratulations Alison, and please keep us posted about your successes.
If you know a young person who could use some career guidance or help in paying for school, check out our WIOA page, submit a contact form, and one of our great staff will connect with you.
