Kami’s Story

There are options for people in every circumstance, and knowing what they are can make all the difference. A single mom, Kami’s job barely covered payed for her hour-long commute, babysitter fees, and the diapers her daughter needed, let alone other essentials. She was ready to give up when she scheduled a meeting with Colt at Forward Service Corporation and learned about the WIOA Paid Work Experience Program.

Kami was worried about taking a leap of faith from the job she had to a new “work experience.” This all changed when she met with Jill, the HR manager of a local assisted living center. Kami soon learned about how important her role as a receptionist would be with them. She gets a refreshing variety of work that ranges from answering calls from vendors and resident’s family members to helping set up activities for the residents.

“I have fun doing my job because the residents are so enjoyable to talk to, and every day there is something different to do,” says Kami. “I’d have to say that’s where Forward Services helped change my life and helped me realize there are a lot of options out there. Thank you Forward Service [Corporation] for giving my daughter and me a better future.”
