When Tracy was referred to our Winnebago office from FoodShare, he was experiencing homelessness and looking to obtain employment. He spoke with Morgan, a case manager for the FoodShare Employment and Training (FSET) program, and expressed interest in some guidance and direction on the first steps.
Morgan enrolled Tracy in FSET and they began the process of mapping out his path to employment. He had been out of the workforce for a few years, so they began working on an all-new resume, computer skills, and practice interviewing with employers. Together, they researched and found jobs to apply for. They set small, manageable goals to achieve his employment goals.
Meanwhile, they connected Tracy to local resources like the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Rogan’s, where he was able to use a voucher from FSET to get a bicycle, work clothes and shoes, and other essentials for interviewing and working.
Slowly, but surely, Tracy began to carry himself with more pride and confidence knowing his goals were in sight. Soon, he received and accepted a job offer that would help stabilize and sustain him!
Morgan says, “I am so proud of all the accomplishments and hard work he has put into this program. He never missed any appointments with worker Morgan and he was always punctual asked great questions and was willing to accept the help.”
Tracy now has his sights set on getting a place of his own. For all he’s accomplished this far, we know he’ll be able to achieve whatever he sets his mind to!
