CDC Steps in to Stop Evictions

Today, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signed an extension to the eviction ban, previously set to expire on June 30. Over concern for public health in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, Walensky extended the ban until July 31, 2021.

“Keeping people in their homes and out of crowded or congregate settings — like homeless shelters — by preventing evictions is a key step in helping to stop the spread of COVID-19,” the CDC stated in today’s release.

This move will keep tenants who are unable to make rental payments in their homes a little longer, but the CDC also makes clear that it’s intended to be the final extension of the moratorium. Learn what to do before the eviction ban ends, to keep your home and family safe.
