When he came to FSET, Steven had a clear idea of what he wanted:
- To maintain his sobriety and continue recovery, and
- A part-time job to support goal #1.
In working with Steven, his case manager quickly noticed his positive attitude and dedication to his mission. While Steven’s dream was to own his own home one day, he saw that this journey begins with the first steps.
Steven quickly set about finding a job. He came to weekly workshops and made full use of our computer lab to find and apply for work. It wasn’t easy, and he was disappointed when he didn’t get interviews and worried that his previous legal issues were getting in the way. But he never wavered – finding jobs that fit his needs and reaching out with applications and contacts.
When he showed up to the office one day with a broad smile, his case manager knew that all Steven’s work had paid off. He found exactly what he was looking for: a part-time job with a local grocery store that meant he could earn money and maintain his focus on recovery.
