When Steven came to FSET in 2019, he had already overcome so many challenges. After achieving 5 years sobriety, he was ready to accomplish more in his life. He knew he was ready for something bigger, but he wasn’t sure how to get there.
Enter FSET. He was told about FSET when he applied for FoodShare and decided to take a chance. The first class that Steven attended was the resume assistance class. When asked about his experience, Steve said “I went from thinking I only had a few skills to KNOWING I had hundreds. With the motivation from my instructor, I realized I could do anything if I put the effort in.”
After completing a few other classes with FSC, Steven enrolled at Fox Valley Technical College in the Information Security program. This is where transportation assistance in FSET was so important so he was able to get to and from class. Steven said that his case manager Angel was great at keeping him motivated and feeling like he was worth it and doing well. He said “She always had a smile and words of encouragement that I didn’t get elsewhere”
Steven graduated with his certification in Spring of 2021 and found a job within one week of graduation. He is a Technology technician at a local school district. We are so proud of all the hard work that Steven put into this over the years, and we can’t wait to see where he goes from here!
