April Redefines Herself

“I am a single mother and did not want to depend on the system to support my family,” says April. Two years ago, she was striving for financial independence. She had earned an entry-level CNC machinist certification through Moraine Park Technical College, but she described herself as “financially terrified” while attending class full-time and completing her internship. “Thankfully my agent had suggested the FSET program,” she says. After just three months with FSET, she’s on her way to achieving her goals and providing for her family.

“I felt completely supported along my journey,” says April. She talked through her goals with her Employment Specialist Angel, who encouraged her and helped April find the resources she needed to achieve her goals. “The FSET program held me accountable and kept me focused,” she states.

As her internship ended with Mid-States Aluminum, they were so impressed with her positive outlook and perseverance that they hired her full-time. Within two weeks, they offered her a promotion. “My past will not define me,” April insists, adding that “This is my second chance, and I could not be happier with the opportunities I have been blessed with!”

April plans to keep up the momentum and advance her career, starting with a course in blueprint reading. She’s especially proud to provide for her family and show them the value of hard work. Congratulations, April!
